A TOWN centre nightspot could lose its licence because of noise complaints from hotel residents.
Colchester Council is set to investigate Layer Cake, in Colchester High Street, after receiving complaints from guests at the George Hotel.
The bar, which opened in August, is directly beside the popular town centre hotel.
Licensing officers are set to investigate the bar on public nuisance grounds, caused by “ongoing occurrence of loud amplified music” into the early hours of the morning.
But Andy Wheeler, who owns the bar, said he had tried to work with the hotel and the council to allay concerns.
