PLEDGES for our campaign to get 100 new apprentices in 100 days are flooding in, with many new opportunities for young people secured.

Colchester Institute is leading the campaign, which is backed by the Gazette and Colchester MP Sir Bob Russell.

Gazette:

As new companies take the first step to take on someone, we have spoken to Colchester Borough Homes, which has been offering apprenticeships for many years.

The organisation has already pledged to take on another for our campaign.

Chief executive Greg Falvey said: “Apprentices bring huge loyalty. They work hard and bring a lot.

“It is a cost to the organisation, but we see it as a part of our corporate social responsibility.

“It is one of the things we do to give something back to the community."
