A MAN is preparing to run the London Marathon wearing an 18kg suit of chainmail.

Mike Dodd, 25, will be taking on the 26.2 mile challenge next month to raise money for Debra, which supports people living with skin conditions.

He selected the charity because his niece Hannah, 16, suffers from epidermolysis bullosa, a condition which makes skin very delicate.

And therein lies YOUR challenge Mr Dawson.

For now though, why not wish him all the best?

For the record, all the best Mike ...

So Steve you ever run a marathon ? Its not the speed you get round for a lot of people its the fact you can do it, raise money for charity, and enjoy doing it. For many its a once in a lifetime experience not what time you do it in.
Good luck Mike, remember to hydrate and enjoy the day. Hopefully Greater Anglia will be operating a full service because getting on and off coaches after you've finished is not the easiest thing, believe me !

Sorry Steve my views of those trying to get good or better times changed 2 years ago when at 9 miles a young lady collapsed in front of me and started fitting in the middle of the pack. Whilst someone went off in search of paramedics and 2 guys helped her I stood to try and protect them and divert people past only to get abuse such as 'what the +*&^ do you think you are doing you are wrecking my time", "Get out of the way, you are making me slow down", "Drag her to the side of the road and dump her", as well as being spat at !
