A CAR has been seized in Colchester in connection with a rape investigation.
A man, who is believed to work in the town, has been arrested on suspicion of rape.
The car was seized by Essex Police in Magdalen Street yesterday afternoon and a search of the area was carried out.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were asked for assistance looking for a wanted man.
“A car was seized by police in Magdalen Street. A wanted man was later arrested in Ipswich.”
A 21-year-old was arrested on Thursday after a 27-year-old woman reported being raped in the Cromer Road area of Ipswich on Monday.
A spokesman for Suffolk Police said: “The 27-year-old contacted police around 10.40pm reporting that she had been grabbed by a man and raped earlier in the evening.
“She told officers she had been walking along Cromer Road towards Bramford Lane around 8.30pm when she was approached by a man who initially asked her the time but then took hold of her, pulled her into an area where bins are stored and raped her.”
A 21-year-old is being questioned by detectives.
