A BRAIN tumour won’t stop Harry Harkness taking on the Paris Marathon.
Harry, 49, a dad-of-two from Colchester, was diagnosed with the tumour two years ago and has recently had radiotherapy.
Doctors hope the treatment will control the growth, rather than potentially harmful surgery.
Harry, who looks after card payment security at the train operator Greater Anglia, said: “If you’re going to get a brain tumour, I’ve got the one you want.
“Having been to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, I had this crazy idea I might be able to do a marathon.
“I wanted to raise money for the worthy causes.
“I thought it would be nice to give something back.”
Harry is raising cash for Brainbow, a charity that supports children with brain tumours.
