Two brothers have been rushed to hospital after being struck by a car outside their school.

Both have suffered potentially serious but not life-threatening injuries after being hit on a pedestrian crossing outside Myland County Primary School on Mill Road, Colchester.

One of the boys is believed to be 11-years-old.

Two ambulances and a rapid response car are at the scene.

The Essex air ambulance was called but did not land as it was not needed.

Police are appealing for information after a 28-year-old woman driving a silver Mercedes B200 struck the brothers at about 3.25pm today.

PC Tim Coe said: “We would like to speak to any witnesses to the crash we have not yet spoken to. Two schoolchildren were struck by the car and have been taken by ambulance to Colchester General Hospital.

“Enquires are ongoing and we are still investigating the circumstances of what happened.”

Anyone with information should call PC Coe at Stanway Road Policing Unit on 101.

The road reopened at 4.25pm.
