A MAN stole £40 worth of groceries from a Colchester newsagents.

Two men entered McColls in Mersea Road and put items into a Sports Direct carrier bag before leaving, making no attempt to pay.

The incident happened just before 6.20pm on Friday January 17, but police only released details of the crime yesterday evening.

A CCTV image has been released in a bid to bring forward witnesses.

The man caught on CCTV is described as being around 50 years old.

The second man is described as being of stocky build, aged in his 40s, and was wearing a blue t-shirt and green or brown jacket.
