A CALL has been made for the political row over Colchester’s future mayor not to happen again.
Will Quince, leader of the Conservative group on Colchester Council, condemned the ruling parties for bringing the role of mayor into a row.
There was a long-standing tradition in the council that the longeset serving councillor who wants the job will get it.
That would have seen Labour’s Julie Young being appointed deputy mayor for 2014/15 and then mayor for the following year.
However, the Liberal Democrats put forward Theresa Higgins for the prestigious position.
