POLICE officers joined a wide-scale search for a man who went missing from Colchester General Hospital.

Gerald Shelcot, aged in his seventies, went missing from the Turner Road hospital shortly after 8.30am this morning.

Essex Police launched a helicopter and officers scarred the north Colchester area to find Mr Shelcot.

He was found safe and well shortly after 2.30pm this afternoon when a motorist spotted him at Tesco, Hythe.

He has returned to the hospital for his ongoing treatment.

So even post Dr (if he ever was) Coutts nothing has improved, what is the point in employing security?

Ah ok and how do you propose we pay for a system whereby nobody is allowed to leave the hospital witout first proving who they are and where they are going?

We are paying for it, but like everything else in that hospital its done in a slap dash way, that and many other things I have witnessed first hand! I am leaving this thread here as some will never see just how poor it is in that hospital! As I have said many times the NHS needs to remove the word care from their paraphernalia, it just does not exist enough to make it work!

My father spent nearly ten weeks in there recently, so I feel a little more qualified than most, you obviously have no recent experience or loss due to the incompetence of that place? I bid you good day and leave you with your rose tinted glasses and delusional attitude, its people like you that keep it locked in a time warp and behind the times!

Sorry to tell you I have recent experience with both the cardiac department and the oncology department where I witnessed first class care delivered by teams of dedicated undervalued staff who as well as dealing with their day to day tasks also had to waste time dealing with muppets like you that see it as some sort of hotel offering butler service while sitting on your backside pontificating on how you could do better.
