Cash, a wallet, identity documents and a laptop were stolen from a home in Greenstead Green.
Thieves broke into a house near the church in Church Road, Greenstead Green, by smashing a ground-floor window at about 4pm on Monday.
Investigating Officer, Dc Victoria Butler, said: "With burglars continuing to ply their trade, we would urge people to keep a look-out for their neighbours’ properties and contact police immediately if they see anyone acting suspiciously or unusually-placed vehicles on a street.”
Anyone with information in connection with this burglary is urged to contact detectives at Braintree police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
