A VILLAGE pub could be re-opened as a convenience store.

Plans have been submitted to convert the King’s Arms in Elmstead Market into a Budgens mini-supermarket.

The pub, in Clacton Road, was the only pub in the village until it closed suddenly in September 2012.

Tendring Council has the final say on the plans and is set to make a decision by March 31.

Old News but make it happen!

However will Budgens be any cheaper than the con artists that run the petrol station? Probably not!

Possibly the worst kept secret in the village! I'm sure people will be opposed to the change and wanting it still to be a pub BUT its been a pub, the pub closed, no-one else wanted to take it over other than Budgens. Would enough people really use a pub on a regular basis to make it viable? Surely its better that someone is taking it over so it doesn't just get left to ruin? If people are concerned that its going to become an eyesore, then take a look a bit further down the road at what used to be the post office which, frankly, looks shocking.
