Profit expected for parking group

First published in News

THE organisation which enforces parking restrictions across north Essex is set to make money for the first time since it was set up.

The North Essex Parking Partnership (NEPP) has been running at a loss since it was formed in April 2011, but bosses say by March, the partnership will have produced a surplus of £21,000.

It is hoped the NEPP will break even in 2015/15.

As expected this was never about managing parking but more about profit making. Suppose the new spy car will come in handy, which I support for outside schools but it has been seen touring around Axial Way and United Way looking to catch people stopping, even briefly, on the Clearway. The builders vehicles, parked just off Axial Way, but within the Clearway, have already been warned.

Of course it is a money making excercise, they are not the least bit interested in actually deterring offenders with a few words of advice - no, it's straight in with the parking ticket! Bring back the old police controlled Traffic Wardens, who knew exactly how to deal with the public and their parking misadventures.

Well if people park correctly then these companies would make a loss and be out of business.

21 grand made in 3 years
how much was the losses in the last 3 years
21 grand in 1 year, does not constitute to a profit over 3 years
the money lost in the last 3 years has not been offset against this MASSIVE profit of 21 grand in 1 year.

They actually have made a losses from their escapades up until now. They have sacked a number of the parking attendants recently. Another shambolic outfit which CBC has links with.

Good on them. The money goes back in improving road markings and the car parks not into someone's back pocket.

Best way to avoid getting a parking ticket is.......... don't just stop for 'a few minutes'.

I don't understand your point. A £21,000 surplus is not exactly crazy profit making is it? You should be praising a council department that actually breaks even.

Also, a clearway is a no stopping restriction - don't stop, don't get a ticket.

It's illegal to stop on a Clearway however briefly - the clue is in the word 'clear'. It's not a Blockedupbytraffic Way.
