MAJOR delays and cancellations have been caused on Greater Anglia trains after heavy storms in the region.

Trains in and out of London to and from Witham, Clacton, Colchester, Ipswich and Norwich have been suspended after a tree fell onto overhead wires near Chelmsford.

Greater Anglia announced the delays at around 6.40pm after heavy storms struck across Essex.

Thunder, lightning and hailstones swept along the county throughout Saturday night, January 25.

UK Power Networks has also announced being called out to electricity problems due to the weather.
