RESIDENTS are calling for urgent action on part of a road which they say resembles a bomb site.
They also say the stretch of Mersea Road between numbers 362 to 392 could easily be mistaken for a Third World road because of the damage caused by traffic forced to mount grass verges.
Doris Gooch, 81, has lived there for nearly 50 years, and is campaigning for the road to be widened.
She said: “It can look like a Third World road here at times. I would just like to invite the people who make decisions on the roads to come and spend a fortnight here and see what they think after that.
“We need action now.”
A petition calling for improvements has been signed by residents and passed to Dave Harris, councillor for Berechurch.
It will now be submitted to the Colchester Local Highways Panel.
