A WOMAN admitted assaulting a police officer and smashing his glasses in an attack in the back of a police car.

Lyndsey Scott, 45, was picked up by officers after they were called to a disturbance at another home, Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard.

Scott was at the house at the time and was arrested and handcuffed by police. While in the back of the car, she shouted and swore at the officer next to her. She grabbed and crushed his glasses.

She scratched and bit his hand.

“The car had to be stopped and the officer driving helped to restrain her.”

The officer suffered a cut and scratches around his eye, and to his neck and elbows, as well as swelling on his hand where he was bitten.

Scott, of Jennings Close, Colchester, was charged with criminal damage for destroying the glasses, worth £369, as well as assaulting the police officers.

She appeared entered a guilty plea for the offences at court yesterday.

Scott is set to appear at the court for sentencing on January 22.
