TUDOR England came to life for youngsters when their school was transformed into a medieval banquet hall fit for for a king.

Pupils at Harwich Community Primary School, in Barrack Lane, dressed as peasants, traders and craftsmen for the day as part of a school topic.

Teacher Charlotte Curle said: “The Tudors are going to be our spring term topic and this event has been an introduction to that.

“It helps to give the children a bit of background.

“They made herbal medicines, wax candles and even their own ink.”

Travelling specialist teachers History Off the Page worked with the youngsters in role-play, storytelling and decorated the hall as a banquet hall.

They were also taught dances, plays and songs from the era.
