A TEENAGER was horrified to discover maggots in her frozen ready meal.

Lucy Clifford, 16, of Holt Drive, Colchester, was tucking into Iceland’s Chicken Popsters with a friend when she discovered the creatures.

She took the food back to the store, on the Turner Rise retail park, and called the national customer services team.

Lucywas given her money back and told she will be sent a £10 voucher as an apology, but she says she won’t be going back.

She said: “My mum had cooked dinner for me and my friend.

“My friend was eating a chicken ball and she saw a little red ball inside it.

“When she started chewing, it opened up and there were loads of dead maggots in it.

“The box said it was 100 per cent meat, but it didn’t say anything about maggots.

“I won’t be going back to Iceland.

It has really put me off.”

A spokesman for Iceland said: “Ms Clifford has been in touch with our customer care department regarding the foreign body in her chicken product.

“She has returned the item to the store and the foreign body will be collected by our supplier for them carry out a thorough investigation.”
