AN author has penned the ultimate survival guide... to a zombie apocalypse.

Tony Newton, 34, hopes to make a killing with his book, which will prepare readers for a flesh-eating invasion of the undead.

The Zombie Rule Book: A Zombie Apocalypse Survival Guide looks a dead cert to fly off the shelves.

Tony got hooked on zombies after seeing George A Romero’s 1978 Dawn of the Dead horror film as a teenager.

Tony, of Henry Close, Clacton, said: “He was the master of that kind of stuff.

“More recently we’ve had Shaun of the Dead, which was a fantastic film, and zombie-mania has gone mad because of the Walking Dead on TV.”

Tony landed a role as a zombie extra in upcoming feature film Welcome to Essex, which was shot in Brentwood.

His survival guide contains 280 tips on how to avoid being eaten alive by zombies.

He was thrilled when the ghoulish guide was picked up by publishers.

It comes out on January 31 at major stores including Waterstones and Foyles, and even Walmart in the US.

Tony said: “It was a dream come true to get my Zombie Rule Book published.

“Now I’m working on another zombie book which Charlie Higson, from the Fast Show, has designed the cover for.”

So what is the best way to avoid becoming a hungry zombie’s main course?

Self-styled expert Tony said: “You have to destroy the brain.”

  • The Zombie Rule Book is published by Cosmic Egg Books, priced £9.99.
