TRAFFIC came to a standstill after two drivers got out of their cars and began brawling in the street.

Surprised motorists looked on as the cars on Harwich Road, near the junction with St Andrew’s Avenue, stopped.

Police were soon called and two men, both from Colchester, were arrested on suspicion of affray following the incident on Friday.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Police attended an incident in Harwich Road following a call at about 3.30pm.

“Two vehicles had stopped in the road and two men were involved in an altercation.”

Officers called for an ambulance after one of the men suffered facial injuries, and he was treated for minor wounds at Colchester General Hospital.

Both men, aged 33 and 34, were later released with no further action after being questioned by police.
