Plans unveiled for two solar farms
3:50pm Thursday 2nd January 2014 in News
PLANS have been submitted for two solar farms in Thorpe and Landermere.
Strutt and Parker Farms have submitted the proposals for Landermere Hall Farm, in Landermere, and Kents Hill Farm, Kents Hill, in Thorpe.
Each application would see a 48kw solar array on each site. The arrays would each include 192 panels.
A report by agent Jamie Kelly, of Proagri Solar, said: “The scheme not only results in a renewable form of energy being generated on the site for use within the existing business, but also in an overall reduction in carbon emissions of 21,300kg per year.
“The proposals are compliant with all relevant national planning policies and will not have an adverse impact on landscape character or residential amenity.’’ The report added: “The site has been carefully selected so it can be well screened and not overlooked which, coupled with the low profile physical height of the panels, results in limited visual impact.
“There are positive benefits arising from a renewable energy project such as this, as it will raise the profile of renewable energy in the population and may encourage greater take up of solar power on domestic properties as the benefits are seen and understood.”
He added the project would also help towards the UK’s climate change obligations.
A decision on the plans is expected to be made by Tendring Council by February 17.
