RESIDENTS enjoyed an afternoon of singing and dancing at an annual tea dance.

Colchester Council’s community zone teams held the Christmas celebration at Stanway Village Hall.

More than 100 older residents attended the event, which included carol singing, bingo and a raffle.

The council’s Steve Switzer said: “Everything went swimmingly.

“We think it is important as a community service to reach out to all these people. We do this all year, but it is nice at the end of the year to do something all together.

“The zone teams love doing this event and we look forward to it every year.”

Mayor and mayoress, Colin and Laura Sykes, also attended the party and joined in with the activities.

The event is funded by Colchester Borough Homes.

Mr Switzer added: “I would like to say a big thank you to everybody who came and everybody who helped.
