A DRUGS courier has been jailed after being caught ferrying cocaine and heroin around Clacton.

Jack Johnston also had a stun gun at his home when it was searched by police, a court heard.

The 24-year-old had wraps of cocaine and heroin, plus a small amount of cannabis, on him when police stopped a car he was driving on September 12.

Officers had checked the car on their computer and discovered it did not have insurance. And when they smelled cannabis in the vehicle, Johnston was arrested, Chelmsford Crown Court was told.

Checks revealed 28 cocaine wraps, 5.84 grammes of heroin in wraps and a small amount of herbal cannabis.

Johnston, 24, of Leyton Court, Clacton, told police he was a courier and was instructed where to deliver the drugs.

He admitted five charges of possessing drugs with intent to supply, having cannabis and the stun gun and driving without insurance or a licence.

Judge Charles Gratwicke jailed him for a total of two years.

Julie Brice, mitigating, said Johnston deserved some credit for his guilty pleas and full confession to police.

He was simply a courier acting under instructions, Mrs Brice told the court.
