WORK is to be carried out on a major Colchester road - and motorists are warned they could face disruptions.
More than 32,000 vehicles use Cowdray Avenue every day.
Essex County Council says work needs to be done to improve the condition of the A133 between Cowdray Avenue and Greenstead Road.
The whole project will take eight months.
Essex county councillor Rodney Bass, the Cabinet member for highways and transportation, said he was pleased the work was going ahead - and apologised for the disruption which will be caused to drivers.
He said: “This is a heavily used road and we are determined to make it fit for purpose.
"There may be some minor disruption while work is taking place but we will be doing everything in our power to keep this to a minimum.
“I am sure residents and visitors to Colchester will welcome this overdue investment in an important part of the road network.”
