Her 12-year-old son Bryndon carries the cardiomyopathy gene, while his dad, two uncles, grandfather and three cousins all suffer from the heart condition.

It is the number one cause of sudden death in people under- 35 when it is not detected or treated.

Originallymeant to be a smallscale chocolate party, the event escalated after support poured in from local people and businesses.

Anne-Marie said: “The venue was packed.

“I am absolutely delighted so many people came to support it, and of course massive thanks to all the businesses who sowillingly gave items and made it possible to raise so much money for the charity.”

More than 100 people turnedout for the event, which included stalls, a raffle and auction, as well as special visits from Father Christmas and other characters.

Ahuge array of donated prizes helped boost the total, including a luxury hamper, cinema tickets and beauty treatments.
