STAFF and pupils at Colchester’s St Benedict’s College are celebrating after receiving an improved Ofsted report.
Inspectors visited the Catholic school, in Norman Way, last month and gave it “good” ratings across the board.
It was deemed satisfactory before.
The report said: “Provision for students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is outstanding.
“Teachers know their students well and, in the many lessons where teaching is good or outstanding, they match work accurately to the needs of students, including the most able.”
Principal Jo Santinelli said: “It is wonderful to be part of a community in which parents, students, staff and governors work together for the benefit of all our young people.”
To become outstanding, the school must match work to pupils’ needs in all lessons and give them a chance to respond to teachers’ marking.
