A DOG owner whose pet went missing after she was hit by a car has appealed for help.

Vicky Wright, 32, only suffered bruising when she was hit in Hythe Station Road, Colchester, but in the confusion her pet chihuahua, called Lady, ran away.

Passers-by helped Ms Wright and searched for Lady but she has not been seen since the incident, last Tuesday.

Ms Wright, of Avon Way, Greenstead, said: “I don’t know if Lady got hurt, but she was really yelping.

“She is only little and timid and is coming up for a year old.

“An appointment was booked to get her microchipped, but we hadn’t got it done yet.

“I spent hours searching for her that night and the following days.”

Ms Wright has received a huge response via social-networking site Facebook from residents who have joined the search for Lady.

She added: “She is really pretty and I’m scared someone will just keep her.”

The incident happened close to the level crossing at Hythe train station.
