BOMB disposal experts were scrambled to Colchester town centre after a suspect package was reported outside a bank.
Police sealed off Crouch Street after the discovery was made at Lloyd’s bank around 9.45am on Friday.
Bank staff and other businesses in the area were evacuated.
Balkerne Hill was also closed to traffic.
The road was re-opened after a harmless package was removed from the area shortly before 10.30am.
