A WOMAN was brutally assaulted in her own home.

The victim, aged in her 40s, opened her front door, in Moy Road, Colchester.

A man forced his way in and knocked her to the ground before kicking her.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "At about 8.30pm a man called and forced his way in to the property after the door was answered.

"Once inside he assaulted the occupant.

"The victim suffered internal bruising which resulted in her spending five days in hospital.

"The man is described as having his two front teeth missing.

"He also strongly smelt of body odour."

The incident took place on November 13.

Information was released today along with an E-Fit of the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pc Hayley Langmead at Colchester police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
