SIX roads in Colchester town centre will be closed so resurfacing work can take place.
The entire lengths of Southway and Stanwell Street, and parts of Butt Road, Chapel Street South, Straight Road and Gosbecks Road, will take place in the next 18 months.
The first is due to be at Straight Road, between its junctions with Shrub End Road and James Carter Road, overnight between November 18 and 22.
Essex County Council has not yet confirmed details of other closures but has promised to keep disruption to a minimum.
Affected residents will be sent letters with details of the closures two weeks ahead of the work on each road.
A council spokesman said: “We apply for an open-ended orders for 18 months so we can have flexibility in our programmes.
“The detail of the scheme, dates and timing, access arrangements are communicated to the community nearer the time of delivery.
“Advance warning signs are put up generally two weeks in advance of the works.”
