Hoard of treasures stolen from Colchester church

In today's Gazette: Police are hunting for a raider who stole a hoard of relics including a sacred shard believed to belong to Colchester's patron saint, Helena.
The precious items were snatched from St Helen's Chapel but found by a passerby. they had been dumped in two carrier bags.
- Colchester's secondary school crisis will be solved by creating 2,250 places.
Essex County Council has unveiled its plan for the next nine years which includes re-opening Alderman Blaxill School and building a new school in Mile End.
- The step-brother of murdered teenager Jay Whiston has described his shock after he was approached by a man carrying a knife.
Lee Whiston, 17, from Alresford, said his involvement in the anti-weapons charity Only Cowards Carry, set up by Jay's mum Caroline Shearer, helped him to deal with the incident.
- Arsonists caused thousands of pounds of damage by torching a garage. Firefighters were called to Wilco in Wickham Road, Colchester, after neighbours reported hearing explosions as the asbestos roof cracked.
