5:42pm Friday 25th October 2013 in News
A MAN has admitted keeping stun guns and cannabis plants in his family home.
Simon Bird, 40, of High Street, Colchester, accepted the four charges against him at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
He was arrested in Ipswich Road, Colchester after police searched him and found him in possession of 14g of cannabis and knuckle duster.
When they searched his house they found two cannabis plants hidden in his loft and three stun guns.
Two of the guns were in a bedroom and the other was on a shelf in the living room.
The prosecution said because the guns could have been accessed by his children the case should be dealt with at crown court.
He was charged with two counts of drugs possession and two counts of possession of an offensive or prohibited weapon.
Bird was bailed and will appear at Chelmsford Crown Court for sentencing in November.
