Snapper catches Essex County Council's car parking illegally

A COUNCIL boss has apologised after her driver parked on double yellow lines while visiting Wivenhoe.
Essex County Council’s Jaguar ECC1 was caught yellow handed on Sunday by an eagle eyed snapper.
The car not only had its back wheels parked illegally but was also blocking two cycle lanes for an hour in High Street.
Interior decorator Duncan Boon, of Wivenhoe, was passing when he noticed and took the photo.
He said: “How is it that Essex county councillors can get away with parking their Jaguar's with private number plates ECC 1 on double yellow lines?
“And there it sat for an hour, whilst the chauffeur wandered up and down the high st of Wivenhoe.
“The private plate just says it all really, squandering money on pathetic attempts at feeling important.”
The car had dropped off Kay Twitchen, the council’s chairman, at Wivenhoe for a civic service in the church of St Mary the Virgin.
She said: “He drove me up to the church and dropped me off before picking me up at the William Loveless Hall.
“In between those times I can’t imagine why he would have parked anywhere other than the hall because he knew that’s where he was picking us up from.
“It doesn’t make any sense to me. He’s a professional driver.”
Mrs Twitchen said she would be speaking to her driver about the matter.
She said: “It doesn’t sound to me he has parked somewhere illegal but it was somewhere a bit silly.
“He certainly shouldn’t have obstructed cycle ways.
“I will make sure he realises when he drives that car it’s a well-known number plate, it’s very visible and he has to be extra careful.
