Zero-hours protest outside Colchester store
TRADE union activists held a protest over zero-hour contracts at a Colchester store.
Members of the Colchester Trades Council held a demonstration outside Sports Direct.
The national chain has been linked to use of controversial zero-hour contracts which trade unions claim is harmful to staff who are left not knowing how much they will earn on any given week.
The practice, which has come under the government’s spotlight, sees employees hired but given no set number of hours per week.
Union activists stood outside the Colchester branch, in Head Street, holding placards to raise awareness of the issue.
Sports Direct was unavailable to comment.
