Church event to support missing Anthony's family
A CHURCH will host a fundraiser this Saturday in support of the family of a young man who has been missing from Colchester since May 2012.
The coffee morning and bring and buy sale will be at Mile End Methodist Church in Nayland Road, Colchester, between 10am and 11.30am.
Money raised will be donated to the Missing People charity that has supported the family of Anthony Stammers since his disappearance.
Anthony, 28, of Mile End Road, Colchester, was reported missing after he did not turn up to his grandfather’s funeral.
On the day he went missing, Anthony, who had been treated for depression, told his mum he was going to meet a couple of friends in London and may not return home that night.
He texted her an hour later to ask if she could make sure his trousers were ready for the funeral the next day.
The former St Benedict’s College pupil did not meet his friends or attend the funeral at Colchester Crematorium.
Police carried out extensive searches in Colchester and a press conference was held, but have found no trace of the talented musician.
Anyone who knows Anthony’s whereabouts can do so confidentially via missingpeople.org.uk or by calling the charity’s number, 116000.
Anthony is 5ft 10ins, of medium build, and had short, dark hair when he disappeared.
