Friends reunite after 40 years thanks to online radio show
8:50am Friday 11th October 2013 in News
FRIENDS who lost touch more than 40 years ago have been reunited through an online radio station.
Radio host David Finch, nicknamed Chirpy, was presenting his radio show from the front room of his home in Hawthorn Avenue, Greenstead, on Sunshine Gold Radio, and started talking about Colchester.
One of his listeners on the other side of the world, Stephen Broadstock, heard the show in his home in Australia and e-mailed to ask if he could request a song as he used to live in Colchester.
Mr Broadstock’s family emigrated to Wollongong in Australia in 1969 and he has lived there ever since.
By a twist of fate, the pair realised they used to be friends as teenagers and had both attended Monkwick Youth Club.
