Founder of Colchester wheelchair charity steps down
9:26am Thursday 10th October 2013 in News
THE man who set up Colchester Wheelchair Loan Charity is standing down.
Since Bartholomew Walsh set up the charity five years ago, nearly 3,000 people have borrowed the lightweight, folding wheelchairs on loan.
They are often used to help a patient leave hospital after an operation or accident, or to take an elderly or frail relative on holiday or a day out.
Sally Cheves, another volunteer who joined the charity last year, will take over day-to-day administration.
Wheelchairs will still be available from Monday to Thursday, from 10am to noon, from the base on Newcomen Way, Severalls Business Park.
To find out more or to become a volunteer, drop in or call 01206 518524.
