Hospital patients' views sought
SURVEYS will be posted out this week to 850 patients who spent at least one night in hospital in Colchester during August.
They will be asked about various aspects of their experiences including their admission, the quality of care, pain control and communication with doctors and nurses.
Other subjects patients will be questioned on will include information, medicines, their involvement in their care, hospital food, cleanliness and discharge arrangements.
Every NHS hospital trust in England will carry out the 2013 adult inpatient survey as part of a national programme led by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Questionnaires will be posted to randomly chosen adult patients (aged 16 and over) who spent at least one night in either Colchester General Hospital or Essex County Hospital, in any specialty, with the exception of maternity.
The CQC will publish the results of the survey on its website (www.cqc.org.uk) in the spring.
