Could north Colchester youngsters have to travel to south of town to receive education?
4:00pm Sunday 29th September 2013 in News
YOUNGSTERS in new homes in north Colchester will have to travel across town to get to secondary education, a councillor has claimed.
But it is claimed plans to build a secondary school on land set aside on the site are in disarray because the millions needed from developers had not been secured.
Contributions of £1million would be made towards the cost of a primary school, but nothing is offered for a secondary school.
However, Essex County Council said “section 106” education payments totalling £14.6 million should have been sought by Colchester Council
