Public fury as homes plans gets go-ahead

In today's Gazette: A bid to build 1,600 homes on fields in north Colchester has been approved.
Colchester Council's planning committee voted eight to two in favour of the application to cries of "shame" from the public gallery.
- Asda has applied to extend its opening hours in Tiptree to 22 hours a day.
Residents say their lives would be blighted if the store get the extended hours.
- Dozens of schools across Colchester will be shut or partly closed when teachers go on strike.
Teachers are holding the walk out over pay and conditions on Tuesday.
- Actor Ben Cura is making his directing debut with a comedy drama filmed on Osea Island in the River Blackwater.
