Town Station Square finally set to be created
2:53pm Tuesday 24th September 2013 in News
WORK to create Colchester’s new Town Station Square will finally begin this week.
The area, next to Colchester Town Station, will celebrate the borough’s engineering heritage when it is completed at the end of the year.
An engine crankshaft designed by famous Colchester manufacturers Paxman, which currently stands at the entrance to Britannia car park, will be included in the new square.
Alongside it will be a poem written by local poet Martin Newell, which will be etched into cast iron plates, forming part of the paving.
The long-delayed square was originally due to open at the same time as the Magistrates Court, which was unveiled in April 2012.
