Phone mast fears in Greenstead
FEARS for children’s safety have been raised after plans were unveiled to put a phone mast behind two schools.
If the proposals go ahead the 15 metre-high mast will be placed on St Andrew’s Field, Greenstead, close to a children’s play area behind the St Andrew’s Infant and Junior Schools, in Hickory Avenue.
Plans have been put in as the current mast, serving Vodafone and O2 customers, is situated on top of the Colchester Academy building, set for demolition.
But there are fears children could get hurt if they try to climb the column, and there are worries about the radiation risk to youngsters.
