FUNDING to carry out repair work to 28 bus stops in West Mersea has been approved.
West Mersea Town Council requested funding from the Colchester Local Highways Panel.
The panel recommended £21,000 be made available for the work, which Rodney Bass, Essex County Council cabinet member for highways, has now approved.
He said: “This is an excellent example of effective working from a Local Highways Panel.
“The panel has listened to a request from the town council and ensured that funding has been allocated for a much needed local improvements.”
Anne Brown, chairman of the Colchester Local Highways Panel, added: “I am delighted funding has been approved for bus stop improvements in West Mersea.
“This will make it easier for residents to make their way around using public transport, and replace some of the dilapidated bus stops in the area.”
