12:22pm Tuesday 10th September 2013 in News
A MAN has appeared in court in connection with the death of a woman at a Colchester flat.
No charges were put to Mark Czapla during a brief hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court and the case was adjourned.
Czapla, 24, has been charged with the murder of 23-year-old Kirsty Humphrey at her home in Queen Elizabeth Way last Wednesday, September 4.
A post-mortem examination by Home Office pathologist Dr Ben Swift has revealed a provisional cause of death was stab wounds to her neck and chest.
Czapla, wearing a grey sweatshirt and dark trousers, spoke only once to confirm his name during the hearing.
He will return to court for a plea and case management hearing on November 18.
Czapla, also from Queen Elizabeth Way, Colchester, was remanded in custody until then. There was no application for bail.
