In today's Gazette: Colchester will become a dumping ground for benefits migrants from London unless it gets tough, it has been claimed.
Tory activists say council tax benefits should only be paid to people who have lived in the borough for at least five years.
* A man has appeared in Colchester Court after scrap metal workers found shotguns, hand grenades and ammunition in a car left at their yard.
Vincent Crockford, 28, of Cotton Wood Close, Colchester, was arrested after staff at G and L's yard in Haven Road, Colchester, found the weapons in a gold Mercedes. He denies charges of possessing self-loading or pump action smooth bore guns.
* A postcard has arrived in Dovercourt from France - 74 years after it was sent.
The card was addressed to John and Alice Thomas who lived at 4 Albany Grove and was sent by a couple known only as Gordon and M when they were holidaying in Menton in June 1939.
* A grandmother with an inoperable brain tumour has bared almost all to raise money for cancer sufferers.
Wendy Ofuasia has spearheaded a Calendar Girls-style calendar and has organised a charity auction to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
