In today's Gazette: A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of young mum Kirsty Humphrey.
Mark Czapla, 24, of Queen Elizabeth Way, Colchester, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates Court but did not enter a plea during the brief hearing. An inquest into Kirsty's death is due to open today.
* Street warden Chris Halls was left rattled when he found a 6ft snake by the roadside.
Chris, who is terrified of snakes, put the reptile in a garden waste bag before taking it to Colchester Zoo.
* Tributes have been paid to a teenage mum-to-be who died aged 19.
Roxie Crump, who had one child and was expecting her second, died of a suspected heart attack. Friends and family spoke of their shock and sorrow and described Roxie as "an amazing girl and mother".
* A man is due to appear in court today after being arrested on suspicion of drug and firearms offences in Colchester.
Police and Military Police officers were called to Haven Road in Colchester after an incident.
