Man remanded after alleged machete threats

A MAN has been remanded into custody after allegedly threatening police and members of the public with a machete and a knife.
Police were called to Plume Avenue, Colchester, at about 7.30pm on Wednesday night.
It followed reports a man, armed with a knife and a machete, was threatening self harm before allegedly charging at police and being put down by CS Spray.
Unemployed 42-year-old Christopher Hazelden, of Hazelton Road, Colchester, was charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
He appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court today.
Bail was denied and no plea was entered.
Hazelden is due to appear for a plea and case management hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on September 17.
