In today's Gazette: Hundreds of jobs are under threat at a Colchester call centre.
Up to 200 staff at Equity Insurance Group have been told the brokering side of the business has been put up for sale.
* Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and presenter pal Jimmy Doherty are on a culinary quest to put Colchester Pudding back on the menu.
The TV mates visited a series of venues in Colchester where they filmed for the return of their Channel 4 series Jamie and Jimmy's Food Fight Club.
* Firefighters battled to prevent an inferno at a farm spreading to stored gas canisters.
A bomb disposal team was also called to the blaze at Old Hall Lane, Walton, after the farmer said deactivated shells were stored in a barn.
* A prolific thief, with 140 previous convictions for dishonesty, admitted stealing a charity box for Help for Heroes from a supermarket.
Drug addict Calvin Reid, 46, of Creffield Road, Colchester, was given a 12 month supervision order and was told to pay £50 compensation to the military charity.
