Youth club site could house Wivenhoe health centre
A FORMER school building could become a new medical centre for Wivenhoe.
The Phillip Road Centre is set to be sold by County Hall, with a decision on the site due today.
A steering group looking to get a new health centre built in the town has agreed to investigate using the building should it be sold by Essex County Council.
The Phillip Road User Group, including a youth club, cinema group and dance school, is already looking at making a bid for the site under the Localism Act and those behind the health plans hope to draw up a joint proposal.
The steering group is chaired by county councillor Julie Young and made up of the Wivenhoe GP practice, developers Realise Health, MP Bernard Jenkin, and members of the town council.
