Elderly couple’s home targeted while they were away on holiday
2:00pm Thursday 22nd August 2013 in News
An elderly couple who live in one of Colchester’s most burgled streets had their home ransacked while they were on holiday.
Postman Mark Warner, 49, of Redwood Close, was on his rounds yesterday morning when he received a call to say that his parents’ Spruce Avenue home had been broken into.
The father-of-two said: “It was a bit of a shock really.
“Most of the mess is upstairs. Every bedroom drawer has been pulled out and tipped up.
“It’s not the damage to the house it is going to be the mental issues.
“My mum’s in her 80s and she’s partially sighted.
“I think they will think twice about going on holiday again.”
