Parking 'spy car' introduction delayed
THE introduction of a “spy car” to police parking around schools has been delayed by a technical glitch.
A CCTV car was due to patrol north Essex from September after councillors agreed to trial the project for 12 months.
But the car’s introduction by the North Essex Parking Partnership has now been delayed due to problems with the software it uses.
It is not yet known when the car, which will be used to patrol schools to ensure parents do not park on zig-zags, will be in action.
However it will not be used in Tendring for the first six months of the trial after Tendring Council opted out citing lack of evidence for its success in improving safety.
- A North Essex Parking Partnership spokesman said: "We are working with our suppliers to ensure best value on all aspects of the implementation of a CCTV car in the partnership. The car will start enforcement activity soon."
